I love watching horses laid flat out. They look so awkward!
Later, Cody took over watch so that Chico could lay down and sleep. A herd works like well-oiled machinery.

Cody (Codys Blue Chick) - 2003 sooty buckskin AQHA quarter horse mare. Born on a ranch in MT, purchased as a 2 year old. Boss mare of the herd.
Chico
Chico - 2004 bay mustang gelding from Beaty's Butte, OR. Adopted as a yearling. Cody's faithful sidekick.
Catlow
Catlow - 2004 sorrel mustang mare from South Steens, OR. Adopted as a yearling. Number 2 mare in the dominance hierarchy, but lead mare of the herd.
Stormy
Stormy - 2004 brown Standardbred mare. Acquired 9/7/13. Unspooky little trail mare that is so far learning her place in the herd.

I always worry when I see horses laid flat out like that. I'm glad they're getting their rest but relieved to know they really are just resting and not dead.
