Too much snow

I tried to go for a trail ride Sunday, but the snow was too deep!  It was up to Cody's knees, and just firm enough that she was getting tripped up in it.  It was not like the light powdery stuff we rode in a few weeks ago before the most recent snow and 1 warm day.  And the road was too slippery to ride on.  This has been one of the coldest winters I can remember here in Wisconsin.  Daily highs this last January were lucky to break into the teens, and the wind has been unrelenting.  Even so, the horses are doing fine.  They might be eating more hay than they usually do, but they are fat and sassy and wanted to run around in the cold sun today.

Fun pictures! At least they are getting some exercise.

That weather sounds terrible! If someone just had your pictures to judge by though, it looks beautiful! The horses certainly do look happy and healthy.
